New Breastfeeding Accommodations at Mayfest
Thursday, 5/2/2019
Spring in Fort Worth is always an exciting time, with a variety of events taking place around the city. Many families look forward to Mayfest every year. Located in the heart of Cowtown, this festival takes place during the first weekend of May. It’s always been a hit with families, but did you know that this year, Mayfest has become even more mom and baby-friendly?
Our friends at Tarrant County Breastfeeding Coalition teamed up with the festival to offer the Nursing Station, a private area for moms to breastfeed their babies. Guests, vendors and volunteers can breastfeed anywhere at the festival, but for those who want more privacy, this station is a welcome addition.
The Nursing Station is prominently displayed on the festival map and on the FAQ page of the Mayfest website. In addition, volunteers at the event have been trained to direct moms to that area, but to also let them know that they are welcome to breastfeed wherever they are comfortable.
Breastfeeding moms attending Mayfest can be rest assured knowing there is a comfortable space for them at the festival. They’ll also find a few goodies from Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas, such as koozies and spray hand sanitizers.
We are thrilled that a major event in our hometown like Mayfest is being proactive in providing breastfeeding accommodations. We can’t wait to see more events and places do the same!
