A Stash of Warmth and Love
June 25, 2021
As a current nursing student from Princeton, Texas, Jennifer first heard about Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas from a lactation nurse at Methodist Richardson Medical Center.
She later observed babies and mothers in need in the NICU and decided she wanted to donate her own extra breastmilk as long as possible. Jennifer says, “The screening process was simple, and the milk bank’s staff members were so helpful.” So far, she has donated 1,217 ounces.
Jennifer’s one-year-old daughter, Catalina, is the youngest of three. She says, “I have a wonderful husband and two other loving children and plan to continue to donate my breastmilk as our family grows.” When asked what donating means to her, Jennifer says, “devotion, comfort, tenderness, nurturing and bliss.”
Her advice for new donors? Jennifer says a deep freezer is a must. She explains, “While pumping is tough and exhausting, once you see your stash, it will bring such warmth and love to your heart!”
