Nursing in Public

Breastfeeding in public for the first time can be nerve-wracking. Questions such as, “How do I do this?” or “Can people see?” might fill your mind, causing you stress.

Take your time getting situated. You’ll soon be able to breastfeed in public confidently. Remember – you are feeding your baby and that little one is hungry!

Here are some tips to get you started:

  1. Practice makes Perfect: At home, have a family member or friend watch your baby latch on and

ask them for feedback. Knowing beforehand what others can and cannot see will ease your mind, making you more comfortable when you first begin to nurse in a public place.

  2. Dress for Success: By wearing a loose blouse and undoing the top few buttons, you can easily slip your baby’s head inside your shirt. The key is to act natural. (Also, a nursing bra can provide easy access!)
  3. Cloak and Cover: Using a cloak or cover-up is completely up to you. If you feel more at ease with a cape or cloak, then make sure you find one that is suitable for you. For cute and fashionable cover-ups, visit www.Bizzybabee.com.

Breastfeeding is a natural part of life and is your legal right to do so in public.  Although you may be uncomfortable at first, just remember that it’s not about you; it’s for the benefit of your child. With practice, a proper outfit, and a cloak or cover up, you will be able to breastfeed in public without a slip up or worry.
