The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is an important program for the Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas. According to its website, WIC provides Federal grants to states for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk. Below is a cool infographic that shows how they support breastfeeding mommas. The information includes statistics on breastfeeding benefits for mothers and babies, how breastfeeding affects society, how many mothers in the U.S. breastfeed, and how the WIC program supports breastfeeding. What is your opinion? Which statistic are you a part of?
