Each year, I help hundreds of women as they go through the screening process to become donors. No matter their journeys, they are always giving and compassionate. We frequently feature stories from donor and recipient moms on our blog. This video series gave us the opportunity to showcase all sides of the story, as many are unaware of the number of hard-working professionals involved in the donation process. From neonatologists to pasteurization technicians, each person who helps get the milk from a donor mom to babies in need is a key piece of the puzzle.

To kick things off, we look at the importance of donated human milk. So, what exactly is milk banking? Milk banks that are part of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA), as we are, provide preemie babies and sick infants with breast milk from generous donor moms. Although breast milk is good for all babies, the nutrients in this “liquid gold” make it especially important for those that are sick or premature. Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas is proud to help fulfill this need.

We are obviously huge advocates for breastfeeding and donating human milk and are hoping these videos will help spread the word of all the great benefits. Don’t forget to share with your family and friends. Thanks for watching!
