We hope you’re enjoying the Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas video series so far. On our Texas Breastfeeding blog, we’re always telling the stories about moms who donate their “liquid gold” and the impact it has on their lives, but what about the stories of those who received the donor milk? Our videos gave us a chance to feature families that received donor milk for their babies.
The generous contributions from our awesome donor moms helped babies such as Slate Suson. His mom, Christine, tells the heart-wrenching story in the third part of our video series, Who Receives the Milk? Born with gastroschisis, Slate was in desperate need of the vital nutrients that only breastmilk can provide.
Twins Jack and Harper Collett were born early at 30 weeks. The preemies were in NICU when they started receiving the donor human milk. Because of the benefits she saw in her own babies, mom Melissa decided to donate to Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas.
Both Christal Suson and the Collett family happily say that you would never know their babies faced such challenges at birth.
To see more of their powerful stories, visit our YouTube page and watch the third video in our series.
