"Motherhood & Milk Banking, Not all Superheroes Wear Capes" was a festive occasion that started with Mimosas and ended with a bundt cake lottery game and raffle prizes. The event commemorated the superpowers of mothers and raised funds for the milk bank's charitable care program, The Milk Money Fund.
From milk donor moms to neonatologists, pediatric dieticians, nurses and community supporters, everyone enjoyed encouraging and amusing words from guest speaker, January Harshe. January who founded Birth Without Fear, acknowledged the challenges both moms and dads face post-delivery, from breastfeeding to body image negativity. She also expressed her amazement and respect for moms who feed their own children and generously donate extra breastmilk to help others. Board of Directors President, Ashley Robbins and Executive Director, Amy Vickers, updated everyone about the milk bank's continued success serving premature and critically ill infants. Event sponsors included: Pediatrix Medical Group-Fort Worth Neonatology, Cook Children's Medical Center, Baylor Andrews Women's Hospital, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, the Amy E. Shewbart Foundation, JPS Foundation, Methodist Richardson Medical Center, Pier 1, Southwest Bank and the Tarrant County Breastfeeding Coalition. It was a great day for celebrating mothers and 11 years of life-saving donor human milk in North Texas. We wanted to share some event photos, courtesy of photographer, Mike Miller:
